Toyota's Humanoid robot
2017-11-22
Toyota Motor Corp. has developed a humanoid robot that mimics the movements of its controller in a remote place in real time. The robot duplicates smooth human movements, a feature made possible by reduction gears and highly sensitive torque sensors equipped in 29 of the robot's 32 movable joints. It also has 10 movable fingers. A user can operate it intuitively in a seat-shaped wearable control system, perceive external impacts the robot receives and see three-dimensional images from the robot's point of view in real time using a head-mounted display.
